New Pornographers (4/22)

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

Although it sold out, the New Pornographers are playing at the Beachland Ballroom Tuesday night. Perhaps if you stand outside maybe someone will have an extra ticket, or two? It could definitely be worth the drive to give it a shot.

The New Pornographers formed in 1997, immediately recorded the classic "Letter From An Occupant," and were an instant success. Their three full-lengths (as well as Newman's 2004 solo debut The Slow Wonder) received wild critical and public acclaim, and they continue to enjoy bigger audiences world-wide.

Currently my favorite tune (that Sirius, "Left of Center" plays all the time) is "Sing Me Spanish Techno," it has a great beat, good to sing along to with the car windows down...really loud! :)

We were in complete awe of the performances given by both Okervil River and The New Pornographers a couple weeks prior to their Cleveland appearance.

Not only did we have the privilege of seeing them at one of Carnegie Mellon's beautiful Theaters, but we also were fortunate to catch the lovely Neko Case before she had to sit out the remainder of the tour*
