Snow surf!
They are predicting snow for Tuesday in Cleveland. With that said, it could snow, be sunny, rain, be foggy or all of the above.
To some of us the winter snow hinders our morning jogs, keeps us in bed those extra fifteen minutes, warrants an extra large latte rather than the daily grande.

To these guys, winters in Cleveland equals the perfect surfing weather. Jeff Sierputowski’s photos of a group of surfer dudes gave me chills but then I thought...how COOL is that?

You may not want to dunk yourself in our fair Lake Erie at this time of year, but try and get outdoors, bundle up, breathe the brisk air and imagine if YOU picked up winter surfing as next years hobby!

a hot sign.
I don't know if it's the sunshine or the excitement of the big Cavs game tonight but something is stirring in the air.

I found this fun, bright and cheery image off of an amazing flickr account filled with nothing but vintage signage images from all over Ohio plus.
Enjoy the sunny day. Get psyched to root on our team...Go Cavs Go!

Until then, check out this image I took from the plane...isn't it fun to see life from a different perspective? Enjoy!

funny story...
So I went to Mentor Headlands over the weekend to enjoy the surf, sand and sun...as well as a few of my magazines and my latest read, Julie & Julia.
Anyways, as I lay there I was watching the cutest little girl and her dad dig a big hole in the sand to splash around in. I was thinking to myself "they sorta look familiar?" "But how could I know a little girl from Mentor when I live in Lakewood? Then it came to me.
Last year on my one and only visit to Mentor Headlands I photographed a little girl digging the same big hole...could it be? Out of the HUNDREDS of people at the beach this day I set up my blanket right next to the same family?

Take a peak and let me know what you think? Do you think they share bandanna's? If anyone knows who they are, I swear the are the cutest summer beach pair ever.

Think Spring
Although it's -4 degrees outdoors, the sunshine keeps me enthusiastic for spring. Although there aren't daffodils peaking their danity heads from the earth quiet yet, I did see them last night at Giant Eagle for $3 a bunch and that is a sure sign of spring to me! Enjoy this little bird as reminder of the months ahead. Stay warm.

peace.

peace.

Cleveland in Paris
Along with loving Cleveland, I HEART PARIS.
I heart the architecture, the quaint bistros filled with espresso & wine, the french fashion sense, I heart EVERYTHING french!
Last week my friend and fellow "Cleveland-Lover" Danielle (owner & creator of Room Service) traveled to France to explore, renew and search out fabulous spring merchandise for us Cleveland shoppers. Her talent lies not only as a sassy retail buyer, but clearly she has a great eye for photography too.

Take a moment to escape to Paris through the eyes of Danielle, photos tres magnifiques!

Happy Day 8
Thursday, January 8th, 2009
There is a lot going on around town, but don't forget to celebrate today, January 8th.
It's National English Toffee Day. It's Elvis Presley's birthday. Did you know eight is the first number to be the aliquot sum of two numbers other than itself; the discrete biprime 10, and the square number 49 (for you number people!) So with that enjoy the eighth in NorthEast Ohio, get your giggle on. :)

Winter Beach Love
“Oh baby it’s cold outside” streamed through my mind as I set out to capture the winter and the lake this past weekend...

The sun was out in full effect but there were no sunbathers, no picnics and hardly a seagull to be seen this afternoon at Edgewater Park Beach. There were however shimmery ice crystals, dagger-like icicles and snow encrusted saplings. The air whipped across my cheeks with every photo I snapped, the sound of waves crashing over the hardness of ice was a different tune than those of the summer waves. Cold and hard, yet melodic, evolving and true. Nature is an amazing creature so fragile and yet so strong. How do the little plants live through this harsh winter, yet in a few months they will lift their little heads and awaken with Miss Spring? I am always in awe of our gorgeous Cleveland winters.

I know it may not be your number one destination throughout these “below-zero” days, but I would highly recommend a pair of mittens and an afternoon adventure to the beach, where the sand cracks like walking on glass and the wind sings a tune of pure exhilaration.

Rain. Florida. Bears?
I know I have been posting a bunch, but there are so many reasons I heart cleveland, I just can’t pick one thing a day anymore...
So as of late, I feel like I am living in Florida. Sunny in the morning, a brief cooling downpour in the afternoon and then a late evening clear up. The trees and plants are thriving and everyone's lawns look ultra lush. Isn’t it great?

I didn’t make it down to the Metroparks this weekend (due to parties, weddings, and lots of work)...but I imagine if I did I might have found an image like this...the two little bears playing together, sharing their finds, taking time to sniff the roses. Do we have bears in Northeast Ohio? I just love this picture and couldn’t resist sharing! It makes me smile.
Have a great week Cleveland!

Art at Banana
If you aren't in the market for some frilly summer frocks, swing by BR to peruse the wild photo gallery...or the sale rack.
Photographer Andy Biggs is passionate about African Safaris and animal imagery, and it shows in his work. Biggs recently landed a big deal with Banana Republic; they're using his images in stores, on billboards and in window displays as part of their Summer 2008 advertising campaign. The images are all black & white, and are calm and classy; this is a thinking-man's safari.

"I began my photographic career leading a workshop or two in Africa each year, and now it has turned into a business where I am leading up to six or seven photographic safaris and workshops in a year. Whenever people think about anything safari or African, I want them to think about my photography and my photographic safaris." commented Biggs.
For more of "Mr. Biggs" work, visit www.andybiggs.com. To locate the nearest BN Gallery to you visit www.bananarepublic.com
